Review of the Electronic Funds Transfer Code of Conduct: ASIC Proposals - 2008

On 3 October 2008, ASIC released the second consultation paper on the review of the Electronic Funds Transfer Code of Conduct (EFT Code). The paper contains proposals for changes to the EFT Code, following the first phase of public consultation in 2007.

The EFT Code is a voluntary industry code practice covering all forms of consumer electronic payment transactions. ASIC is responsible for administering the Code, including conducting periodic reviews.

ASIC invites submissions in response to the proposals by Friday 5 December 2008.

What happens next?

All submissions will be considered and the Code redrafted by a stakeholder working group chaired by ASIC. The working group consists of representatives of industry, consumer, dispute resolution schemes and government stakeholders.
